15. Château de Châteaubriant, France
The Château de Châteaubriant in France is said to be haunted by a woman who has been locked within the castle. This structure was built in the 11th century and the woman is said to be Françoise de Foix, the wife of Jean de Laval. According to stories, the king once asked de Laval to help him in court so Françoise joined in as well and has soon become the lady in waiting for the queen. Later on, she is said to have become the mistress of King Francis and in October 1537 she died mysteriously. Rumor has it that her husband found out the affair and locked her in her room in the castle.
