47. Library of Celsus, Turkey

The Library of Celsus in Turkey is another popular attraction in Europe that you should visit, especially if you are a fan of ancient Roman buildings. The structure can be found in Ephesus in Anatolia, Turkey. It was built in 135 AD in honor of Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus. The library stores more than 12,000 scrolls and serves as the monumental tomb for Celsus. The Roman senator was buried within a sarcophagus right beneath the main entrance of the library. It was said that it is unusual to be buried in a library of within city limits so this act is a special honor for Celsus.
