43. Schwerin Castle, Germany
The Schwerin Castle in Germany is one of the most popular attractions in the country. It is a palace that is situated in an island right in the city’s main lake, which is called the Schweriner See. For several centuries, the palace was a home to dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg. Right now, it serves as the seat of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The structure is regarded as among the most important works of romantic Historicism in Europe and is set to become a world heritage site. The palace was built in 1845 until 1857 in cooperation of some well renowned historicist architects.
