51. Cologne Cathedral, Germany
The Cologne Cathedral is one of the most visited landmark of Germany. It is a well renowned Roman Catholic church and was built in 1248, yet, the construction was halted in 1473 and that’s why the church was unfinished. The exteriors of the Cologne Cathedral is truly magnificent and so are the interiors where you will find some treasures, including the High Altar, installed in the year 1322. Construction of the church has since commenced and the plan was to build the cathedral in the shape of a Latin cross, similar to other Gothic inspired cathedrals.
