3. Kaikoura
This little coastal town lying on the way to Marlborough is a great place to go whale watching. Whales, dolphins and fur seals are the permanent residents of this place. The kaikoura peninsula walkway is a 3 hr walk which passes through a seal colony, a bird colony and also gives you the chance of seeing some unique limestone formations.
