7. Mount Vesuvius
Considering the damage it brought in 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius remains one of the world’s most treacherous volcanoes. Evidence of its devastating effects can be seen in the nearby town of Pompeii which was destroyed completely in the aftermath of the volcanic eruption. It further caused a huge scare in 1906 when another eruption destroyed the city of Naples forcing the Olympics to be held elsewhere.
