3. Popocatepetl Volcano
Popocatepetl is one of the few mountains in Mexico with a glacial top. It’s a very active volcano; still it didn’t deter a group of monks to build monasteries on its slope. After a lull of a few decades, Popocatepetl has suddenly become very active, the recent volcanic activity occurring in 2012 when gas and rock prompted the government to close schools in and around the area.
