The Kapellbrucke, or the Chapel Bridge, is another must see sight in Switzerland. It is a covered wooden footbridge that spans diagonally across the Reuss River right within the city of Lucerne, in the central area of Switzerland. The site was named after the nearby chapel, the St. Peters. The bridge is famous due to its unique features and it contains several interior paintings which dated back to the 17th century. While most of these paintings have been destroyed due to fire, some of them were subsequently restored. Currently, the Kapellbrucke is the oldest covered bridge in Europe and is a famous landmark of the city of Lucerne.
